ABOUT TRES SOULS

The genre of Boleros originated in Cuba then it made its way into Mexico in the 1940s. Three piece bands were known to perform this style of music and now we have a new generation of artists:
Tres Souls, comprised of members Roberto Carlos, Jesús Martínez, and Rocio Mendoza represent a revival of “Trio Romántico,” music. They relive the vintage sounds and songs of the 1940’s -1960’s Bolero style that was popularized during the ‘Golden Era of Mexican Cinema.’  Tres Souls create a festive and nostalgic celebration.  They offer their own unique interpretation of this timeless sound, interspersed with bilingual renditions, bridging the borders between their past and present.

Tres Souls perform around the greater Los Angeles area.  Their past performances include: The Broad Stage’s original cultural educational musical called, “Musical Explorers”, Air BnB Open Spotlight, MOLAA, Metro Arts Presents at Union Station, Plaza De Cultura Y Artes, Rosenthal Theater, Casa 0101, KPFK, KXLU, and many more.

Tres Souls is dedicated to the preservation of Bolero music and will be recording a live album this year 2017.   They will also commence in recording a studio album that pays homage to Bolero music, with a release date in 2018.

    LISTEN TO TRES SOULS LIVE

“Tres Souls performance set a standard to our summer concert series. Their performance was full of energy and passion, that the audience demanded an encore. From start to finish the audience was singing along to their favorite boleros. Tres Souls did not disappoint!”  - Jennifer Alcantara, Events Specialist at the Museum of Latin American Art

"Tres Souls captures the best bolero with their enchanting vocals and melodic guitars."   - Bridget Bojorquez, Room and Board

Each member of the trio is an individually accomplished musician, but together they are more than worth going out of your way to see and hear. In sum, their blended voices and musicianship as a threesome are a marvel, and they deserve to be widely seen. Can't wait for the new album!  -Joe Staats , Audience Member

"Tres Souls ecstatic energy and 1940’s bilingual song choices had all age groups dancing in the aisles. This fantastic 3-piece bolero band was a highlight of the afternoon’s performances." - Clément Marcelet, Airbnb

"As their name suggests, they gave a deep and soulful performance that filled the grand waiting room with the moving ballads of "trio romantico" music. The powerful voices of Roberto, Jesus and Rocio had passersby stopping in their tracks, many even singing along.  Gracias Tres Souls! " - Heidi Zeller, LA Metro Arts
